About the artist

Born in Beirut in 1980, today Ibrahim Maalouf is the most popular instrumentalist on the French music scene, first receiving international recognition for his work almost ten years ago. Aged just 20, Ibrahim was already finishing first in the world’s most prestigious International Classical Music Competitions, and began a career as a classical musician. And yet, with the new millennium, he also carved out a space as a key musician on the pop, jazz, and world music scenes. Sting, Salif Keita, Amadou & Mariam, Tryo, Matthieu Chédid, and many more artists from an extremely varied range of genres have all enlisted his talents. Between 2007 and 2017, Ibrahim produced, composed, arranged, and directed more than 15 albums of his own and on behalf of other artists, and composed 10 classical symphony pieces and a number of movie soundtracks. Ibrahim is the winner of 4 Victoires de la Musique, an Echo Music Prize for Jazz in Germany, a César for Best Original Music in 2016, and a Lumières Award for Best Music, also in 2016. He has also been honoured with membership of the French Order of Merit and Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. After performing more than 1000 concerts across five world tours, he became the first jazz musician in history to fill France’s biggest concert venue. Indeed, Ibrahim performed this historic concert on 14 December 2016 at the Accor Arena, selling out the venue more than 8 months in advance.
